The water route in Sarteano
Sarteano is a town whose origins date back to the Etruscan era, between IX and I century BC, on a plateau in Val d’Orcia, bordering the Val di Chiana.
One of the available routes to be followed is the water itinerary, as there were numerous mills and a thermal spring that gives rise to the open-air pool located not far from the center of the hamlet.
Before the visit, however, we recommend an itinerary that starts from the churches of Sarteano, in particular the Churches of San Martino, San Lorenzo and San Francesco, including the halls of Palazzo Gabrielli dating from the XVI century and the Peschiera Giannini, where there are the remains of the 36 meter fortified walls, and the necropolis of Pianacce, one of the most important archaelogicla finds from the Etruscan age.
At parco delle Piscine, the water flows at 24°, so we suggest taking advantage of it to regenerate yourself after a day spent exploring the hinterland.
