31 Oktober 2018
Events focused on food and wine tastings are always popular, especially in Tuscany. Every year, in the charming medieval hamlet of Montepulciano, there is an important event that attracts foodies from all over Italy and foreign.
Toscana Gustando: the celebration of genuine specialties
Toscana Gustando is an event that is focused on Sienese Valdichiana delights and, every year, a comparison with the specialties of another Italian region.
It’s a fair born with the aim to celebrating and promoting food & wine of the Belpaese, a meeting point among farmers, craftsmen and tourists.
On Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th November, from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm, you can taste the delights at the stands located along the streets of the historic center of Montepulciano.
The 2018 edition will be dedicated to Friuli Venezia Giulia local products, so it’s a chance to discover even these traditional dishes, together with the most popular food of Tuscany. The stands will be displayed between the alleys from Colonna del Marzocco to Via dell’Opio, but, in case of rainy weather, the event will take place at Cripta del Gesù.
In the previous editions, Toscana Gustando hosted producers from Campania, Sicily, Lazio and Emilia-Romagna, who have presented many traditional specialties to taste, including prosciutto di scrofa (a kind of ham), caciocavallo cheese, cured meats of Norcia and Amatrice and craft beers, just to mention a few.
During the event, there will be a series of shows to entertain all the people came for guided tastings and to buy local products.
Furthermore, the event includes the „Nobile Corner“, a stand dedicated to the tasting of Montepulciano wines. Buying the glass and the glass-holder you will be entitled to four tastings of Rosso di Montepulciano DOC and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, served by expert sommeliers who will show you features and recommended pairings of the best local wines.
Of course, we recommend also a visit to the vineyards and the historic cellar of Borgo Tre Rose, free for our guests, an opportunity to discover the winemaking techniques and appreciate wines to the utmost.
